Load Restraint Methods and Equipment

Through years of industry experience, testing and engineering there are certain Methods and Equipment Loadsafe has developed in designing Load Restraint Systems for clients. Specialised equipment designed, manufactured and supplied to industry include high pre-tension webbing and chain winches, specialised hooks, adaptors and end fittings.

There are Load Restraint methods currently being promoted in Australia which can result in increased risk if not managed appropriately. These include but are not limited to the use of rubber load matting; webbing straps for direct restraint; and side curtains.  Loadsafe can provide advice on these or offer safer alternative systems.

For example, in 2017 Loadsafe developed the following methods and equipment for various clients.

The Loadsafe Loop

Loadsafe has recently developed a new method of bracing load racks and blocking loads, the “Loadsafe Loop”.

It utilises a standard 9m length of 8mm Transport Chain attached at each end to a tie rail support point on each side of a vehicle deck. The chain is looped around the end of the load which can be supported with a barrier such as load rack, plywood sheet with chain carrier angles, hardwood pallets etc.

Slack is removed from the chain using 50mm webbing strap(s) looped over the load and attached to the middle of each outside chain leg.

The Loadsafe Loop can be safely applied by an operator standing on the ground without the need for an in-line chain tensioner.

Loadsafe Chain Carriers

Loadsafe has recently developed and tested stackable chain carriers for palletised loads. These chain carriers can be supported on the top corner of a (brick) pallet or can stand on the deck supported under the front (or rear) of the timber pallet.

Loadsafe Blocking Hoops

Loadsafe has recently developed and tested removable blocking hoops for palletised loads. These hoops can be positioned to effectively block changing gaps in a load caused during multiple drop-offs. The hoops also support the packaging of the product to limit its movement on a pallet.
